Wardrobe Remix

I have decided to participate in this thing called Wardrobe Remix. I stumbled upon some really fantastic blogs by other girls who are doing the challenge, and it looked like a lot of fun, as well as a way to give my wardrobe a little organization. My closet isn't exactly cohesive; when I am getting ready for work in the morning, it is often a harrowing experience. I also have absolutely NO method to my shopping madness; thusly, my closet is full of completely random items that caught my eye and then end up collecting dust.

So. After a too-short summer, it is the start of a new work year (yay teaching jobs!), and my dress code is simply no jeans or revealing tops. Usually, a new school year means a wildly chaotic trip to the mall to buy a few of-the-moment-outfits that I eventually feel miserable about and abandon. Maybe this wardrobe remix thing will change that!

My new rules:
1. I WILL NOT buy a single item of clothing off the rack. (Except my bridesmaid dress for next spring of course.)
2. I will find a way to make the odd items in my closet work.
3. I will put my sewing machine and fabric collection to good use!
4. When I buy things to alter at thrift stores, I WILL alter them within one week, and they will NOT end up right back in my Goodwill bag.

This particular dress has been crammed in the back of my closet for about a year now. I bought it at a thrift store, way too big and way too low, with plans to alter. A year later, and I finally broke out my sewing kit and brought it in, and closed the slit at the top. I think I'll do something about the low neckline... it looked alright from my in the mirror perspective, but my mister says that anyone taller than me got an eyeful. (Fortunately, I was in a dark theater watching a pre-screening of Scott Pilgrim vs. The World, so not too many people got to peep.)

So! That was my first Wardrobe Remix post. I feel a little self-conscience about the whole thing... I know I'm not exactly an example of high fashion, but what the hey. It's just for fun.

Hopefully my next one will be a skirt that I am currently making myself!

In love with that dress. I like how you paired it with the cardi and belt too!

I'm definitely guilty of breaking those rules! my wallet is too tiny to waste clothes. I need your discipline!
